ABOUT
Susan had an early start in music when her parents enrolled her in piano lessons as a kid, followed by a stint playing the saxophone in her middle school band. When she was 14, her older brother bought her an electric guitar for Christmas. He used to drive her to/from school and they listened to his playlist in the car...Guns N' Roses, Joe Satriani, Extreme, and Ozzy Osbourne. She started taking lessons and by her senior year in high school, she performed in the battle of the bands with some classmates, and went to her first Van Halen concert. She was hooked on rock and continued to take lessons, including a year of individual instruction in guitar improvisation and theory from Berklee School of Music Professor David Newsam.
After graduating from college, Susan spent 5 years as the guitarist and backup vocalist for KORE, a rock and alternative pop/punk band, writing and recording original music and performing both original and cover gigs. When she joined KORE it was a 4-piece band, but it quickly evolved into an all-female power trio. The band was endorsed by Daisy Rock Guitars, DR Strings, Manic Panic, and Feranda Jeans. They performed live in studio on the Studio 10 Morning show in Tampa and on Good Morning South Florida CBS 12, and their music video was featured on Bright House Cable's on Demand Channel for several months. Their music was also featured on WMNF radio, with two on-air interviews and performances.
Notable performances included:
- Mamapalooza Summer on the Hudson Festival in NYC, with special guest Dennis Dunaway of Alice Cooper on bass
- Hot Topic in-store concert series
- Newport Guitar Festival, Hard Rock Hotel and Casino, Hollywood, FL with Daisy Rock Guitars
- Vans Warped Tour Girlz Garage (St. Petersburg) and Official After Party with Daisy Rock Guitars
- Opener for comedian Jon Reep, winner of the Last Comic Standing
- John's Pass Seafood festival
- WMNF radio, various tribute/fundraiser shows
Following KORE, Susan played for 10 years as the guitarist and backup vocalist for acoustic rock cover duo, Stumble Fox. They performed more than 400 shows together, including some notable performances at the Hard Rock Cafe Acoustic Music Festival and John's Pass Seafood festival.
They collaborated on an original song "Into the Sun" with DJ Marisol Musick, who had previously been a member of the band KORE with Susan. Marisol performed on synth and drums and also produced the song, which was featured on Radio St. Pete. The three also made a music video together during the pandemic, which was edited and produced by Marisol.

Feeling inspired to return to original music, Susan formed Daisies & Axes with longtime friend Jazmine, and the two motivated each other to complete some unfinished songs. They performed original and cover gigs together in 2022-2023, switching off on lead/harmony vocals and lead/rhythm guitar.
